Lithotint printed in black, 1878, on cream wove paper, laid on a Japan support sheet, from the published edition for Picadilly of the second state of five and with the text, with good margins, framed.
Sheet 13 1/2 x 10 1/4 inches; 343 x 260 mm.
The sitter is Maud Franklin, Whistler's mistress and frequent subject during this period.

Pale lightstain and matstain, the support sheet with a few small areas of old tape residue at top sheet edge verso, a few unobtrusive tiny foxing spots in the margins, a 3/8 x 1 inch loss at top left sheet corner, otherwise in good condition.
