A contemporary of the great nineteenth-century ebeniste Francois Linke, Emmanuel Zwiener was a German born cabinet maker working in Paris during the last quarter of the 19th century. Zwiener drew inspiration from Louis XV furniture in France's great public collections but often added his own unique interpretations. He was awarded two gold medals at the Paris Exposition Universelle in 1889 cementing his place amongst the world's finest cabinet makers.
