NEW YORK, NY -- Doyle is honored to auction property from the Collection of Anne Eisenhower on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at 10am. The collection of the acclaimed interior designer is offered as a featured section of the auction of English & Continental Furniture & Decorative Arts.
Anne Eisenhower was born in West Point, New York. As a child she lived throughout the United States, studying at the Shipley School in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, The University of Massachusetts, and The New York School Of Interior Design. Her apprenticeship in interior design was with the firm of Elisabeth Draper Inc. in New York City. She lived in Bogotá, Colombia from 1968 to 1972 and again from 1974 to 1976.
Upon returning to New York from Bogotá in 1976 she began her first interior design firm which eventually evolved into Anne Eisenhower Inc. The firm specialized in residential design and decoration throughout the United States and abroad. Eventually, when her travel schedule made it impossible to work with clients she began to renovate apartments and develop houses for her personal use.
Ms. Eisenhower has participated in designer show houses for the Kips Bay Boys Club (New York City) and the Roger’s Memorial Library (Southampton, NY). She has created various settings for display at Tiffany & Co. for their "Breakfast at Tiffany’s” presentations, as well as promotional projects for Brunschwig & Fils and House Beautiful. Her work appeared on the cover of the book, A Room with a View by Chris Cassen Madden, which featured "Two Decades Of Outstanding American Interior Design From The Kips Bay Decorator Show Houses," and more recently the book, 40 Years of Fabulous - The Kips Bay Decorator Showhouse by Steven Stollman. In addition, her projects have been featured in magazines throughout the world including Architectural Digest, Interior Design Magazine, Metropolitan Home, House Beautiful, Town and Country, Hola Magazine, Bunte and The Hong Kong Home Journal. She has appeared in design related articles in publications such as The New York Times, The Washington Post and The International Herald Tribune.
Ms. Eisenhower is a Trustee of the Eisenhower Foundation, a member of the Advisory Boards of the New York School of Interior Design and the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. She is a member of the Chairman’s Council of Casita Maria Inc., where she was a Board Member for over 25 years. She currently lives in New York with her husband, Wolfgang K. Flottl, and has a daughter and twin grandchildren who also reside in New York.
Her collection features stylish furniture and decorations ranging from a pair of impressive Regency style giltwood consoles supported by dolphins (est. $5,000-7,000) to a whimsical zebra-painted folding table designed by the legendary decorator Albert Hadley ($600-900).
Property from the Collection of Anne Eisenhower comprises 75 lots in the sale of English & Continental Furniture & Decorative Arts on October 25, 2017.
